How to use sex toys

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Today during our lunch break a co-worker was telling us about a ‘passion party’ she went to the night before. She was really excited because she said that the woman who was throwing the party told them how to use sex toys like vibrators and anal plugs. I didn’t say anything because it was at work, and I definitely don’t want the reputation as being the employee with all the kinky sex toys, but I was so surprised that a grown woman felt like she needed to be told how to use sex toys.

Outside of basic safety issues, like not using electric sex toys in the water unless they are specifically made to be waterproof, I think people should open themselves up to using sex toys however they want. Sex toys don’t have just one use. A vibrator can be used so many different ways on both men and women I can’t even imagine how a hostess at a passion party could cover all the possible ways they can be used in one evening. My husband loves when I run my vibrator along his nipples- not a use someone who didn’t know how to use sex toys would probably think of.

Part of the fun of kinky toys is discovering new uses for them. Instead of telling people how to use sex toys we should be convincing them that there is no wrong way to use a sex toy.

How to buy Sex Toys

Monday, August 25th, 2008

We’re lucky today because we have quite a few options when it comes to where you can buy sex toys. Kinky sex toys are a way of life, something most couples own and enjoy together. You can usually buy sex toys pretty easily no matter where you live. Even smaller towns have a sex toy store or two and lately ‘passion parties’, where sex toys are explained and can be ordered, have seen a surge in popularity.

However, many people prefer to buy sex toys online. Sometimes people are a little embarrassed, even today, to walk into a sex toy store and ask a clerk for help. Many women, in particular, feel very uncomfortable doing this. Passion parties are great- if you know someone who is throwing one and if you are okay with friends and co-workers being privy to what sex toys you like to use.

Online you can browse for whatever kinky sex toy you like and it is anonymous. Online stores also usually have a wider selection and better prices. And if you choose to order your sex toys online your package is shipped to you in a plain wrapper, no obvious logos or company names. So, no need to worry what your local post office will think. No one will have any idea what you’re ordering.

Safety First

Electric sex toys are enormously popular. Most people who own sex toys will have electric sex toys ones way or another. Like all sex toys sold in the United States electric sex toys are put through vigorous testing to make sure they are safe for you to use. But it does help to know your sex toy and some basic safety rules.

The biggest no-no with most electric sex toys is water. Unless your electric sex toys are specifically marked to be water safe do not use your electric sex toys in the bath, shower, pool, hot tub, or Jacuzzi. If you think you want the option of bringing your electric sex toys in one of these places it’s worth the extra money, and making the extra effort to find a waterproof sex toy.

Because of the water restrictions on electric sex toys this also means you have to be a little more careful when it comes to cleaning. Wiping your electric sex toys down with a damp cloth will keep them running longer than holding them under a running faucet or soaking them in the sink.

E-Stim

Usually when someone is talking about electric sex toys they mean something fairly basic, like a vibrator. They may, however, be referring to a sex toy used in ‘electric stimulation play’, sometimes called ‘e-stim’.

If you’ve ever accidentally given yourself a good shock then you know the power of electricity on the body. It can cause muscles to contract and cause the body to tingle. Electric sex toys used in e-stim work on the same idea. They give a very, very low dose shock of electricity, causing your muscles to contract- which when used below the belt is just like an orgasm!

Electric sex toys used in e-stim don’t put out enough electricity to be dangerous. Like many vibrators, they all come with current control devices on them so you can control the level of sensation you receive. At the lowest setting you will probably just feel a slight tingle, not unlike the feel of a vibrator; the higher settings are for when you get more adventurous with your e-stim play.
Also like vibrators some electric sex toys used in e-stim are meant for penetration and some are not. Electric sex toys used for penetration often come with removable attachments so they can be used for anal as well as vaginal play.

Sex Toys for Virgins

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Most people think of sex toys as something a couple would use together or something people use to hold themselves over until they find a partner. But the fastest growing market for sex toys is actually those people who have never had sex.

There are plenty of good reasons for virgins to use sex toys. Sex toys are a great way to learn about your own body and discover what you like before involving another person. Sex toys help virgins take charge of their own sexuality. Because they already know how their body responds to certain sensations they will, most likely, get more out the experience the first time they have sex. Sex toys can also make it easier for virgins to stay virgins, if they are trying to wait until they are married or until they find the right person.

Of course, virgins usually have a tougher time when it comes to figuring out how to buy sex toys, because they probably don’t yet know what makes them come. Experimenting with masturbation before going to buy sex toys is the single best way virgins can help themselves decide with sex toys are right for them. For women the biggest question will be if penetration makes them come, or if clitoral stimulation does. Vibrators are the most popular sex toys with women, but it is easy to buy the wrong one if you don’t already know what will bring you to orgasm.
