Not all sex toys are made to be waterproof- and even some that seem like they should be, aren’t. Even when I buy a sex toy that is specifically marked ‘waterproof’ I still test it out first by submerging it in a water filled sink and turning it on. This is also a good way to test the sound. You know how you’re always warned about being quiet if you have sex on the beach because of how sound travels over water? Well that goes for sex toys in the bath tub, too. I was very embarrassed one evening when I realized my normally quiet vibrator sounded much louder (me, too, while I’m being honest) when I used it for the first time in the bathtub. If you live with your partner this could be a good thing. If you’re living with roommates, probably not so much.
Another tip I’ve come across while learning how to use sex toys in the tub is that you still need to use lube. The water quickly removes the natural lubrication your body makes and a fun night of water play can end with you being sore the next day. Water-based lubes won’t do much for you when using your sex toys in the water, but any other lubricants will be just fine.
