My fiance and I are planning a trip to Key West for our honeymoon. We had a shared bachelor/bachelorette party and needless to say we will be taking a whole lotta "marital aids" with us for the trip. Whats the deal with airport security? if theyre going to give us a hard time should we just leave the toys at home?

Hi Dallasite!
A honeymoon without sex toys is like an NFL party without beer. It just doesn't make any sense. There are real-live terror threats looming on the horizon so you can rest assured that airport security has much bigger concerns than your wife's Pocket Rocket. Go ahead and pack your bag full of lubes, lotions, plugs, dongs and dildos and use them to your heart's content. (You and your bride may not have as much time to enjoy them once the honeymoon is over.) With that said, here's a few precautions you'll want to take when travelling.
1. Pack your vibrator in your checked luggage and spare yourself the embarrassment of having security pull out your "strange mechanical object" for closer review. 2. Pack the lubes in zip-lock bags to protect your luggage from leaks. And, with the new security requirements for liquids you're better off storing it in your checked luggage as well. 2. For God's sake..take the batteries OUT of your vibrator while travelling. You don't want your little friend's "on" switch to set off a security alert. 3. Leather whips and strap-ons can travel in your carry-on luggage. If an inspector asks you what its for just be honest. "Its a sex toy." (Traveling with sex toys is not illegal.) Just be aware that heavy-metal buckles on a strap-on in particular might draw attention to themselves as it rides through the X-ray. Handcuffs should not be carried on board an airplane. Best to pack them in your checked luggage.
Happy trails~

I worked for an airline for years and we always saw and heard about really crazy stuff. One man actually checked a deflated inflatable doll so you can imagine the look on the scanner's faces!

I mistakenly left my Pocket Rocket in my purse before I checked in. When they actually pulled it out and asked me what it was I very calmy replied "its a massager for my neck and back pain." The lady just rolled her eyes at me and passed me through.

My wife and I travel with a large group of friends for an adults-only party in Mexico every year. I can tell you from personal experience that just about every person on that plane has got a sex toy of some kind in their carry-on or checked in with their baggage. Its like a big joke with us. I keep saying that one day I'm going to actually put a pocket pussy in my briefcase so they can pull it out in customs but the wife would kill me.

As much as I love my toy I WOULD DIE OF EMBARRASSMENT if customs pulled it out of my bag. No way!

I travel a lot for business and usually bring something with me for the trip. Now I usually try to stick to dildos for travel. Since they're battery free there's no way I can forget and leave them 'locked and loaded' to be set off by baggage handlers like that poor lady from Dallas. I carry my dildo in my carry on. You have to be willing to look a security guard in the eye and tell him what it is if you choose to bring your dildo in your carry on but so far, in my experience, they're usually too embarrassed to give you any trouble or ask any questions you don't want to answer. At least I've never had anyone mistake my dildo for a bomb!

I would agree packing toys in checked baggage...sans batteries...is the best option. Do not, however, be surprised when you open your bag, there is a nice note from TSA that says your bag has been opened and checked. Never had a toy in one of my bags, but did have my laptop...TSA was all over that.

^^ Those TSA notes are pretty random, though. I've had them in my bags when I had nothing was worth checking and when I had a couple toys, there was no big deal.
Like everyone said, checked baggage. I don't know why you'd even think to take it on the plane with you, unless you forgot to take it out of a bag like another member posted. Even if someone checks your bags, it won't be when you're around so there would be no reason to be embarrassed

I remember the fiasco I went through my stun gun (I do not like to be separated from it especially in those big city airports). I had to take it out of my purse right before we checked in, took out the battery and disassemble it. I couldn't imagine standing in the airport trying to do the same with a vibrator. Unless you're daring, just do it all at home and make sure to pack it into your checked luggage as everyone here has advised. Does anyone have any experience for those that actually WANT a toy them on the plane. Any suggestions on http://www.tabutoys.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.asp?productid=2502 or http://www.tabutoys.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.asp?productid=3904 ?

Oh wow - Can you imagine wearing one of these bullets and going through the xray? Lots of explaining to do! Love to hear if anyone's done that...

No, my wife's got more sense than to do that. They remove the sense of humor from all the TSA clowns that have made air traveling a pain in the ass but when we travel I take a few toys along and always put them in our checked baggage. So far so good. Don't worry about it. You might want to think about where you're going to though. I don't think I'd take a dildo to Iran or Afghanistan. Hank

JimmyJane makes a perfect toy for this... the Lil Chroma its aluminum and has a removable motor and tho its only one speed its pretty strong and looks more or less like a cigar tube... so you can toss the bits all separately in your carry on and assemble them wherever the need arises.
